Sex and the City

Call me crazy but I just got home from going to see the movie Sex and the City...yep I guess you can say I'm a die hard (along with two viewing theaters, virtually full, of people)! Angie was kind enough to brave the late hours to go check it out with me...thanks girl, hope you enjoyed it!

I have to say I LOVED IT...well done! I am a little sad however because I guess that chapter is officially over now...the girls will be shelving their Manolo's & calling it a wrap. Along with millions of others, I guess I'll just have to resort to the girls on DVD sets! :(

Good night (or should I say good morning)! I must go to dreamland now and dream of the "Big Apple" (for the 3 1/2 hours that I get to sleep...but it was worth it)!

Liv's Music Program/Kindergarten Graduation

Every year the Kindergarten Classes at CCS puts on a music program the last week of school and then the kids get a certificate of completion (graduation) from their teacher & Principal. They also dress in Western Wear every year. Here is small video of the program and then some photos. Bailey is just learning how to take video with our camera so sorry for the shakiness.

The Germans are Coming, the Germans are Coming!!!!

Oh wait just "the" German! Our friend, Andy, will be arriving here on Friday for his bi-annual trek to Columbia. Not sure what his attraction is to Columbia when there is all of America to see but we do enjoy his company & glad that he chooses us! However, I'm a bit irked that he his not bringing his better half, Andrea, but I guess I'll have to get over it.

I'll post more as our German adventures begin! Okay, I must go now to brush up on mein Deutsch: ein, zwei, drei, vier...

...that is the amount of people that we had here on Sunday for our BBQ. The rain decided that it wasn't going to come but the heat & humidity chose to play instead. It was so MUGGY that I had to turn the air on! We decided to start at 4pm instead of 1pm to allow us more time to get errands run and chores done. I think it's pretty safe to say that everyone had a great time including the kids who had water fights with the creek water. They had water and mud everywhere, and more poor lawn took a beating from it (we have to seed in many areas of the side lawn)...I feel for whom ever washed their clothes!! At around 8-8:30 it started to get really dark and windy and many of our guests cleaned & cleared out for fear of a rain storm, but it never rained. The 2nd batch of people left about an hour to two after the 1st and the last of the Mohican's left at about 12:30am.

Good times had by all but as every year, we are contemplating on whether we will do it again...I guess we'll see in 11 months.

I can't believe that my baby boy is already "9"...the time goes by way to fast! It seems like just yesterday morning I was waking up with contractions, calling the hospital, making new plans because the original plan was to have a c-section with him on the 26th, call Elizabeth to come over & watch Bailey, and then head on in. He was born @ 9:35 am via c-section, weighing 8lbs 13ozs and about 20 inches long (can't remember this one off the top of my head...it was 20 or 21). He was beautiful and he even had dark hair unlike his sister.

I have some photos of him from the past 9 years, but unfortunately I don't have any on my computer from his birth.

To BBQ or Not to BBQ...That is the Queston??

I'm sitting here watching the rain come pouring down and wondering if it's going to stop. We have our annual Memorial BBQ scheduled for tomorrow as many of you know. I just checked the weather forecast for tomorrow and there is a 40% chance of thunderstorms for the whole day. So here lies the dilemma: do we BBQ or not? I know this should be an easy decision...wait and see. But not so...If I wait & see that means all of the outside work that needs to be done can't get done until tomorrow, and the Sam's shopping will have to wait as well (I really don't need 100 hot dog buns lying around the house). If I wait I will be running my apple bottom off tomorrow (although it could use a runnin' off), but if I call it today then it's going to be gorgeous tomorrow!!

Mom's Bragging Moment

After Nico's 5th game last Friday his coach said to all of the boys that if any of them were interested in pitching that they should practice (he should us the propre form & gave us the distance at which he should practice), and when they felt ready he would put them in the game to try it out. Since that game he practiced twice and did pretty good. Before last nights game started Don & I discussed that we thought maybe after one more practice session he would be ready. Last night at his game coach asked Don if Nico was ready to pitch, Don told him we thought after a little more practice he should be ready for tonight's game. Well after a short amount of thought coach & Don decided to try him out at it anyway and I have to say he did an awesome job. He pitched just one inning (they usually only play 3-4 innings at this level) but was able to strike out two players. I was also very impressed with his composure...he was so at ease & comfortable. If it had been me I'd had been a nervous wreck & it would have shown...I think this position might just be right for him! Great Job Buddy!! Oh and his team is 6-0-1 (for those of you who aren't sport minded that is 6 wins, 0 losses & 1 tie which they got tonight).

On to Bailey! Tonight at the kid's school was Awards Night for grades 6th-8th honoring them for academic, musical, & some athletic achievements that they have received for the year. Neither Bailey nor I knew what to expect but walked away very proud at the awards/achievements that she received for her accomplishments. She received the following awards:

• National Physical Fitness Award (the highest is the Presidential & she was SO close to getting that one...next year Bail),
  
• Improvement Award in Math,
  
• B Honor Roll (maybe you can get the A next year) ;), and a
  
• Music Award (don't remember the name of this one...she will receive it at school tomorrow)!

Way to go Bailey...WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!!

Out of the Mouths of Babes #7

Don't worry there is no cursing involved in this one...I just thought it was cute & wanted to document it.

I was working on my blog this morning trying to get Ang's grad stuff up, and Bella was playing and watching TV. A commercial came on for what I think was something for Pixar but not for sure because I caught the last second of it. Bella turns to me and matter of factly says, "that's hilarious"!

Where do three year olds come up with this stuff? So funny!

Our MIZZOU Grad!

On Saturday, May 17, Angie graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in Social Work. The commencement started at 8PM in the Mizzou Arena and lasted about 2 hours. As I had stated before we had family come into town for her big day; our mom, our dad, cousin Lindsey & cousin Stephanie. After the ceremony we all came back to my house and ordered pizza because at this point we were all starving.

Celebrating Olivia's Birthday

Here are some images of Olivia's birthday. On her birthday she was able to celebrate in class...the kids all made her cards, mom made & brought in cupcakes, and then her class sang to her (I'm such a sap...when her class sang to her I got all choked up). After school she was able to have her best bud, Emily, come over to play (this is a special treat because we do not do play dates on school nights) and then that evening we sang to her with her cupcake and she got to open one gift from us & some from friends. Fast for forward to Thursday and she was able to celebrate with our family, Ang, Borts & family that are in town (Grandma Jean, Grandpa Nick, Cousin Lindsey & Cousin Stephanie). We took her to CiCi's pizza (she loves this place) and had a mini party there.

Out of the Mouths of Babes #6

Here we are again and with the same child (what have I done wrong with this one)! Bella and I are sitting on the couch, she's playing & I'm on the computer, of course. She goes to do something and knocks the baby wipes box off of the couch, it falls to the floor and it breaks open with the contents in it falling out. She then says, "oh damn it"! I look at her and nonchalantly correct her with, "oh darn it" and she repeats me and all is fine.

Maybe the nonchalant approach is the way to go...she then sees that using those words doesn't get her the "oh my gosh" reaction. Well the theory sounds good to me right now anyway!

Avoiding the Beast

Here is one of the reasons I know my hubby is the best guy (or he was just trying to avoid the beast from coming out to play...even if so I still think he's great).

Last night I was completely exhausted from running all day and ended up falling asleep on the couch. Now if you know me like my hubby does, you would know that if something like this happens to me and I have to get up it isn't a pretty site...the beast comes out. I get so crabby and awnry it amazes me that Don is still married to me because I can get REALLY ugly. Yesterday in the midst of all my running I managed to get our sheets in the wash (they desperately needed it) and also started the task of folding a mountain of clothes on my bed. As always the laundry chore never gets fully completed & gets put on the back burner as there is always something more pressing to do (everything to me is more pressing then laundry...I'd rather change poopy diapers all day then do laundry & you know how much I hate that). So, I had to leave the mountain (still on my bed half folded & half not) to get the kids picked up from school, fed, entertained, other chores done and then get them to their activities. Needless to say the day went on with the laundry still on my bed & the fresh sheets still in the dryer. Well I was checking my emails while half awake last night and had said to Don "oh crap I still have to clean off our bed (which is a big chore because as I said there was a mountain on it) and then put the sheets back on"...and then I fell asleep (fully intending to get up and do that). Next thing I know I'm getting patted on the behind to get me up and the 1st thing that pops in my head is, of course, that damn laundry. So I head on up, growling to myself (might I add I'm very proud f myself for only growling because it's usually 100 times worse), to tackle the dreaded. I get to the top of the stairs, look in my room, and what do you know the fresh sheets are on the bed ready for me to fall in it...what a "ta da" moment that was!!! Anyway, the beast was avoided and Don gets to wear the hubby of the week badge (or that is until he fowls up)! :)
