Thursday Mental Health Minutes

My metal health minutes were actually very good today! Don and I took a 3.5 mile walk today on the trail and it felt awesome! The weather was perfect and my company was even better...not only do I believe that self time is important but time to reconnect with your significant other is just as important if not more. Rarely do we get alone time like this so I definitely cherish it when we do!

Thanks for taking the time to do this with me babe...I love you!!!!!!

One of Those Days

**Update** Still no phone service!! I called the company at 4:57PM to see what was up and of course "the technician is running behind ma'am and won't be able to make it today. Will you be home tomorrow ma'am?". "Um, no I won't! It's a little unreasonable to ask someone to sit at home for 2 days!" (or 18 hours for the on/off chance that they may/or may not show up) "I'm sorry ma'am, I will put you on the ticket for the first thing in the morning."...Uggghh!!!

BTW...just because you over use the word "ma'am" doesn't make it any better or right for that matter!!!!

-----
Yesterday for the most was a great non-eventful day until I got home with the kids from school...it then turned into "one of those days".

Our lawn was in desperate need of mowing because it was like 8 ft tall (okay maybe only 3-4 inches tall but 8 ft sounds much better) and I thought it would be a perfect time to squeeze in mowing the lawn & "mental health time" for mom. I couldn't mow it at the beginning of the week because some children of mine (not a 100% on which ones but I have a pretty good idea of who) were playing on the rider and left the key in the on position which drained the battery (for those of you that are worriers...don't, they couldn't get the thing all the way on & in gear if they wanted too). We do have a push mower but of course it's so old that I can't get the thing on myself so I had to wait for our friend to charge the rider...thanks Mike!

Okay, I digressed a little...so the mower is working for me yesterday, I'm tooling along enjoying my "metal heath break", I just get the front lawn finished and KAPUT...the darn thing of course dies on me and on a hill nonetheless! Crap...there goes my "mental health" and I still have 3/4 of our lawn to do. I check to see why it's dead and of course no gas and no gas in the garage either.

When I mow I like to rock out to my iPod within my iPhone...so I decide to call into the house (I know that's a lazy move but oh well) to get the kids to come help me push this hog up the hill and back to the garage. I make the call and wouldn't you know it the phone goes right to voice mail...so I'm a bit perturbed and march in the house to see who they are on the phone with. I walk in the door and they are all just doing their thing and no one is on the phone...WHATTHEHOCKEYSTICKS!!! We all check the phones and none of them are working...aggh.

So now I have to call the phone company to figure out what the heck is going on with our phones and this is what I get (it's about 4:30PM when I make this call):

Phone lady: "I'm sorry ma'am, did you check this and this and that...well well have to send someone out to look at it tomorrow"
Me: "TOMORROW?"
Phone lady: "Yes ma'am all of our technicians have gone home for the day so you'll have to wait until tomorrow ma'am" (in that condescending voice that all of these people have mastered)
So I'm thinking to myself, 'gone home..it's only 4:30 what the heck?' Also in the back of my head is the fact that Bail has to babysit for me tonight...four kids and no phone...not good!!
Me: "Well that is really inconvenient but if that is my only option I guess it will have to do. What time can I expect them?"
Phone lady: "Between 8-5 ma'am"
Me: "Between 8-5?" Who the heck has time to sit around for 9 hours and wait?!? Oh, and WTH 5:00, she just told me they were gone for the day @ 4:30?!?
Phone lady: (still with the condescending voice) "yes ma'am"
Me: "Alright but what if not home and they need to get in the house?"
Phone Lady: "Well then ma'am they'll leave a tag on the door and you'll have to call back and set up another time"

AGGH...it's 1:40 pm and they still haven't come yet.

Conversation complete and the kids and I headed out to move the mower and got it put away. Nico & I did some raking and then came in to get dinner ready. We ate, I got ready for my meeting, hugs & kisses to them all and I'm out the door. I needed to leave by 6:30 to get there early to hand out info. I get in the car and notice a light saying my tailgate is open...get out to shut it and of course NOT WORKING!!! Call Don to tell him I need the car and he says, "babe I'm not ready to be done working"..."well you just might have to be if I can't get a ride!!!". I get a ride (thanks Aimee) and end up walking in about 5 minutes before the meeting starts...way to late to hand out my stuff...crap!!

On a positive note, myself & some friends ended the evening with a (or 2) $3 margarita(s)(thanks Tony)!! The Margarita ended up as my "metal health break"!!!

Much Better Today

OK I feel better today! Don and I went on a couple mile walk this morning on the trail, and this helped to rejuvenate my mental health at least for a few hours anyway!! The weather and fresh air were a nice plus as well!

It's so important for everyone, especially moms, to make sure we just take at least 20 minutes a day for ourselves to refresh...I fail at this miserably myself. It's so easy to get wrapped up into family life and push ourselves to the back burner.

So my challenge for myself is to find a small window (at least 20 mins) every day for "mental health time"...feel free to join me & let me know what kind of things you are doing for yourself!!!

I'll keep you posted on how that goes!
